Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of BookTrades. Please read them carefully — by creating an account or sending an enquiry you agree to them.

Last updated: 7 August 2026

Details to be confirmed before launch

  • Registered company name, company number and registered office address
  • VAT number, if BookTrades is VAT registered
  • The official contact email address and postal address for legal notices
  • Confirmation of which UK law and courts should govern these terms (currently written as England & Wales)

1. Who we are

BookTrades ("BookTrades", "we", "us") operates a UK online platform that shows homeowners which independent tradespeople are available for work today, tomorrow or later in the week, and lets homeowners contact them directly.

Company registration details will be published here once confirmed. You can contact us at hello@booktrades.co.uk.

2. BookTrades is a platform, not a tradesperson

  • BookTrades is an introduction and availability platform. We do not carry out, supervise, subcontract or manage any building, plumbing, electrical or other trade work.
  • Tradespeople listed on BookTrades are independent businesses or self-employed individuals. They are not employees, agents or partners of BookTrades.
  • Any contract for work is formed directly between the homeowner and the tradesperson. BookTrades is not a party to it.
  • Homeowners and tradespeople are responsible for agreeing the scope of work, price, payment terms, timescales, materials, access and any variations between themselves.
  • We do not guarantee workmanship, quality, safety, availability, pricing, attendance or completion of any job arranged through the platform.

3. Availability information

Live availability is set by each tradesperson and shows when they say they are free. It is an indication provided by that tradesperson, not a booking confirmation or a promise by BookTrades that they will attend. Plans change — always confirm directly with the tradesperson.

4. Checks and badges

  • Any badge shown on a profile represents only the specific check BookTrades has actually completed and recorded — for example that a document was supplied and looked at.
  • A badge is not a guarantee, endorsement, warranty or assessment of workmanship, competence or safety.
  • Qualifications, registrations and insurance are supplied by tradespeople. Where a trade is regulated (for example gas or electrical work) you should confirm current registration directly with the relevant scheme before work starts.

5. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over and provide truthful, accurate and current information.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account.
  • Tradespeople must keep their availability, service area and business details accurate.
  • You must not create accounts on behalf of someone else without their authority, or run multiple accounts to manipulate visibility or reviews.

6. Reviews

Reviews can only be left by a homeowner who arranged the job through a BookTrades enquiry that was marked as completed. Tradespeople cannot edit or delete customer reviews; they may add a public reply. We may hide or remove reviews that breach our Acceptable Use rules.

7. Suspension and removal

We may suspend or remove accounts, listings, reviews or content that are fraudulent, misleading, abusive, unlawful, or that breach these terms or our Acceptable Use rules. Where practical we will tell you why.

8. Our liability

  • We provide the platform on an 'as is' basis and do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service.
  • We are not liable for the acts, omissions, workmanship, delays, damage, losses or conduct of any tradesperson or homeowner.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law.
  • Subject to the above, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, income or opportunity.

9. Fees

BookTrades is currently free to use for homeowners and tradespeople during our early launch period. If we introduce charges we will tell you in advance and you will be able to decide whether to continue.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email. These terms are intended to be governed by the law of England and Wales, with the courts of England and Wales having jurisdiction — to be confirmed before launch.
